Efficiency Measures Implementation include school in Irzniq, Decan

Prishtina 21/10/2016 – As of today, the pupils of the elementary school ‘Avni Rrustemi’ in Irzniq of the municipality of Decan will have central heating, thanks to an investment by the Ministry of Economic Development, as part of projects to implement efficiency measures in public buildings. Minister Blerand Stavileci and his team, representatives of the local government in Decan and the staff of the school were present for the inauguration.

Minister Stavileci said this project will help the school in energy saving and will improve public health, as the project will improve the learning environment for the children who attend the school, and added there will be projects like this in other schools as well.

“Energy Efficiency and major projects such as the TC Kosova e Re, represent one of the main priorities of the MED, respectively Government of Kosovo, as they relate to development, public health and job creation,” said the Minister.

Stavileci stated that the MED has approved two projects, for central public buildings and local level public buildings, which will be implemented together with the World Bank, KfW and the West Balkans Investment Framework, as well as he informed that following a review of the legislation there will soon be an Efficiency Fund.

Qazim Maloku, Director of the Department of Education in Decan, said the municipality is grateful for the central heating project, and it represents an achievement in providing a better, warmer learning environment for the pupils. He thanked Minister Stavileci for the project support, asserting that it will improve the quality of learning.

Mehdi Doda, Director of the School ‘Avni Rrustemi’, thanked the MED and the Municipality of Decan for selecting his school to implement such an important project for the pupils.

The ‘Avni Rrustemi’ school in Irzniq has about 300 pupils and so far, the school has been using wood stoves to provide heating for the pupils.
