Minister Rizvanolli part of the panel of the eighth edition of the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue

Berlin, 30.03.2022 – The Minister of the Ministry of Economy (ME), Artane Rizvanolli, who is representing the Republic of Kosovo in the eighth edition of the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue, was a part of  the panel, “Gender and energy interconnection: Interview with Ministers and Stakeholders.”

Minister Rizvanolli expressed her satisfaction for the possibility of discussing gender representation in the energy sector, through the prism of opportunities, and not that of obstacles for women in the sector. She also shared the experiences and work that has been done to reduce the gender representation gap, with a focus on the energy sector.

The first person of the MoE shared with the interlocutors and participants, the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to increase gender representation in all sectors, in particular, in sectors such as energy where the percentage of women’s participation, especially in leadership positions is extremely low.

So far, through the work of the Government of Kosovo, this dedication has been reflected in areas that include recruitment procedures for public enterprises, breaking the structural barriers, equal inclusion of women and the inclusion of a gender perspective in the process of energy transition and among other things also the vocational training of women and girls in the energy sector.

She also stated that under the motto “From purpose to action” of # betd22, we continue to work in order to turn the gender equality “From dedication to reality.”

Other participants of the panel were: Dr. Monica Kathina Juma, Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Energy of Kenya, Dr. Sheila Oparaocha, Director of the “Energia” International Network , Dan Dorner, Head of the CEM Secretariat, Dr. Thomas Fohgrup, Head of the GPA Coordination Unit, UNITAR, while the panel was chaired by Dr. Melinda Crane, BETD.
