The Ministry of Economy and IFC expand cooperation for the development of wind energy auctions

Prishtina, 2 October 2026 – The Ministry of Economy and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) have signed an addendum to the cooperation agreement, with the aim of continuing and expanding support for the preparation and implementation of wind energy auctions in Kosovo.

Through this agreement, IFC will continue to provide technical and advisory assistance to the Ministry of Economy in developing future wind energy auctions, contributing to the expansion of renewable energy capacity and the acceleration of the country’s energy transition.

The first auction for the development of wind energy capacity, with a capacity of 50 to 100 MW, is currently in the bid evaluation phase.

The new agreement also expands IFC’s support to future auctions, with the aim of adding 200 MW of new wind energy capacity and reaching a total capacity of up to 300 MW.

This cooperation aims to support the development of a competitive, transparent and attractive market for investment in renewable energy.

At the same time, it contributes to diversifying energy sources, strengthening energy security and increasing clean energy production in Kosovo.
