Prishtina, 09.07.2018 – Minister of Economic Development Valdrin Lluka met today with the General Secretary of the European Federation of Public Service Employees (Eurofedop), Bert Van Caelenberg, accompanied in his visit by the President of the Telecom Employees Union, Lamih Balaj.

Minister Lluka informed the Eurofedop Secretary on overall developments in the public sector, with special emphasis on the Kosovo Telecom, and on the significance of social dialogue in treating all matters, especially those of interest for employees.

Head of MED assessed the state of Kosovo Telecom as unsustainable, however, MED and the entire Government of Kosovo are working on the implementation of solutions to overcome this situation. Therefore, the support of the union and all employees is of paramount significance, as solutions offered are also in the interest of employees.

Minister Lluka underlined the continuous meetings he carried out with the employees union, and expressed MED’s and Government’s unreserved readiness to cooperate and support the social dialogue, as the most efficient mechanism for overcoming problems and ensuring general interest is pursued.

Eurofedop Secretary, Bert Van Caelenberg, underlined that the situation in Kosovo Telecom is very difficult, and requested from the institutions to find a favorable solution for all stakeholders involved, and to focus on social dialogue as means for finding such solution.
