German businesses promise investments in the sphere of energy

Prishtina, 09 October 2013 – The Minister of Economic Development, Fadil Ismajli, met today with the executive director of the Southeast Europe Economic Development Committee, Rainder Lindner, and two representatives of the Department for EU Expansion, Southeast Europe and Turkey of the Federal Ministry for Economy and Technology. The German delegation was also accompanied by the German Ambassador in the Republic of Kosovo, Peter Blomeyer.

During the meeting, Minister Ismajli informed the German delegation on the progress achieved in Kosovo’s economic development, while underlining the significance of further strengthening of economic relations between both countries.

The Head of MED also revealed achievements in the sphere of infrastructure and energy, with special emphasis on investments in the sphere of renewable energy and energy efficiency, while seeking exchange of experiences in this sphere with the Southeast Europe Economic Development Committee and German businesses.

Minister Ismajli underscored that the Republic of Kosovo has a favorable environment and great potential for investments in energy, infrastructure, production and similar spheres.

The Executive Director of the German Southeast Europe Economic Development Committee, Rainder Lindner, stated that this visit represents a strong signal of the readiness for economic cooperation between Kosovo and Germany. He said that an active approach of German businesses in Kosovo will purport general economic development in the country.

Aware of the 60-year old experience of the Southeast Europe Economic Development Committee, the German delegation promised support and direct investments in the sphere of energy, always with support from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Republic of Kosovo.
