Minister Ismajli discusses with KOSID on energy sector developments

Prishtina, 07/25/2013 – Minister of Economic Development, Fadil Ismalji, and his associates met with representatives of the Kosovo Civil Society Consortium for Sustainable Development (KOSID), with whom he discussed on the latest developments in the energy sector in the country.

On this occasion, Minister Ismajli highlighted the need for the involvement of the civil society in drafting and revising strategies and policies in energy and other relevant sectors.

The Minister and KOSID representatives also discussed on the current state of projects in the energy sector, with particular emphasis on the “Kosova e Re” Power Plant project, the future of “Kosova A” Power Plant, and modernization of “Kosovo B” Power Plant.

In addition, they also discussed on the development of renewable energy sources, improvement of energy efficiency and reduction of energy losses, where the Minister elaborated on steps MED has taken in this direction, as well as projects under implementation.

Another important topic was the transmission network and interconnection with sister systems in the region in order to increase the security of energy supply and diversify energy sources.

Finally, Minister Ismajli also expressed his readiness to closely cooperate with the civil society to the betterment of the energy sector in lien with modern standards.
