Rexha asks that the dispute KOSTT EMS, is resolved in the Energy Community Treaty
Zagreb, 18 December 2009 – Deputy Minister of Energy and Mining, Dr. Tech. Blerim Rexha, attended in the seventh meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Council of the Energy Community Treaty (ECT) held in Zagreb. Topics of discussion in the meeting were the achievements of the signatory countries of ECT and further steps toward the accomplishment of obligations deriving from this Treaty.
In the meeting, Deputy Minsiter, Dr. Tech. Blerim Rexha, in line with the agenda, raised the issue of the dispute between KOSTT of the Republic of Kosovo and EMS of Serbia, and asked that this issue is resolved as soon as possible within the Energy Community Treaty in a fair and just manner. “I ask from the Signatory Countries of the Energy Community Treaty to make way for the resolution of the dispute between KOSTT of the Republic of Kosovo and Serbian EMS”, said Deputy Minister Rexha, and added that the Republic of Kosovo, respectively and issues related to electricity should be resolved in line with the newly created circumstances.
Rexha also added that the Kosovo Government is committed to fully meet directives deriving from ECT, and said that the GoK has increased its activities to fulfill its objectives. “Kosovo Government reiterates its commitment for the fulfillment of ECT obligations and commends and supports the insistence of the ECT Secretary in the resolution of the disagreement between KOSTT and EMS.
Ministers have agreed that the dispute between KOSTT and EMS should be resolved in the Energy Community and that the efforts to this end should continue. In addition, the Ministerial Council has unanimously adopted two decisions on the acceptance of the Republic of Moldavia and Ukraine in the Energy Community Treaty.
