Prishtina, 22 July 2026 – The Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Kosovo, together with GIZ Kosovo, have officially signed the Implementation Agreement for the project “Support to the Partnership for Climate and Energy Transition”.

The Agreement strengthens cooperation between the Republic of Kosovo and the Federal Republic of Germany in advancing climate policies and the energy transition agenda. It builds on existing cooperation and aims for closer coordination between the partners, including strengthening political dialogue, institutional capacities, climate diplomacy and inter-institutional cooperation.

It also supports joint efforts to raise public awareness and foster broader engagement in addressing climate change and advancing the energy transition, helping to shape shared priorities into concrete actions at the institutional and societal levels.

The General Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Leonita Shabani Mullarama, stated that this partnership constitutes an important step in strengthening cooperation and accelerating efforts for a sustainable energy transition.

“Collaboration with our international partners is essential for advancing the climate and energy agenda. Through this project, we will continue to strengthen our institutional capacities and work towards implementing policies that support a more sustainable energy future for the citizens,” said the General Secretary.

This partnership is another testament to the long-standing relationship between the Republic of Kosovo and the Federal Republic of Germany and reflects the shared commitment to supporting Kosovo’s path towards European integration. By turning strategic priorities into concrete actions, this partnership represents an important step on Kosovo’s path towards membership in the European Union.

The project is supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN), through the International Climate Initiative (IKI), and implemented by GIZ Kosovo.
