Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Rizvanolli visited Telecom of Kosovo
Pristina, 29.12.2023 – The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti and the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, visited Telecom of Kosovo today.
The visit of Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Rizvanolli took place on the occasion of the end of the year 2023 and the reporting of achievements in Telecom of Kosovo, where the management informed them of the successes achieved by the company in 2023.
Prime Minister Kurti said that they are celebrating this New Year, seeing significant results in all directions at Telecom of Kosovo. He also announced that with the €20 million loan provided by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, investments have been made in technology, in the mobile phone core centre with accompanying devices, in the installation of additional antennas in the region of Gjilan and Ferizaj, landline services have been added in police stations and public enterprises, and significant results are expected to be seen in the Mitrovica area the first months of 2024.
“Starting from the losses since 2015, this year, Telecom of Kosovo generated a net profit of €5.9 million from January to November 2023, maintaining an annual growth trend of 5% increase in revenue, accompanied by a reduction in operating expenses, indicating smart management”, Prime Minister Kurti said, among other things.
Meanwhile, Minister Rizvanolli emphasized that Telecom of Kosovo, with its investments, is indirectly yielding results in the country’s economy and employment, and added that network coverage has been significantly improved, including main road assets, rural areas and especially in the northern municipalities, where there was no Telecom network until now, and its expansion also contributes to the improvement of security in this part of Kosovo.
“I am very pleased that we are also talking about the good financial performance of Telecom, not as a result in itself, but as a source of continuous investment, which will continue in the coming years. Now, as we speak, the procurement for new stations has been completed, which means that by the mid-year we are entering, the entire territory will be covered with a 4G+ network, and the provision of 5G service will begin in the most populated areas” Minister Rizvanolli said.
