Viti, 2 September 2026 – The Acting Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, together with the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, visited today the “28 Nëntori” Lower Secondary School and the Centre for Social Work in Viti, where investments have been completed to increase energy efficiency and improve conditions for students, teachers and citizens.

Investments worth 118 thousand Euros have been made in the “28 Nëntori” School, which include the following:

• Thermal insulation of external walls;
• Roof insulation;
• Replacement of windows;
• Installation of pellet heating system;
• Installation of efficient LED lighting;
• Installation of new boiler.

As a result of these measures, annual savings are about to increase by 75 percent, or about 118 thousand kWh of energy per year, while simultaneously creating better temperature, lighting and air conditions for students and teachers.

An investment of 139 thousand Euros was made at the Centre for Social Work in Viti, which improved the conditions of the facility through the following measures:

• Installation of a new boiler with a capacity of 90 kW;
• Replacement of windows;
• Improvement of the facade;
• Improvement of the lighting system;
• Improvement of air quality and temperature conditions in the building.

These interventions have enabled the reduction of annual energy consumption by about 74 percent, creating more suitable working conditions for staff and better provision of services to citizens.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti emphasized that investments in energy efficiency directly improve the conditions in which citizens learn, work and receive services, while the savings created will pave the way to new investments.

“We are starting this school year after a summer with high temperatures, which have reminded us once again that public buildings should be built and renovated for a changing climate. Energy efficiency does not only serve to keep the heat inside during the winter. It also helps the school remain cooler even during hot days,” said Prime Minister Kurti.

The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, said that these investments are part of the just energy transition, which aims to make the benefits of energy efficiency tangible for all citizens.

“The just energy transition means that no one is left behind, that families, public institutions, students and employees have decent conditions, while at the same time saving as much energy as possible. These investments show concretely how energy efficiency brings direct benefits to citizens and institutions”, emphasized Minister Rizvanolli.

The investments were made within the framework of the revolving scheme of the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund, with financing from the Government of the Republic of Kosovo. Through this scheme, municipalities benefit from the investments and gradually return the funds to the Fund from the savings made on energy bills.

These two facilities are part of a broader investment in public buildings. As part of the Government’s scheme with municipalities and the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund, 3.8 million Euros have been allocated for the energy renovation of 13 public buildings in Viti, Podujeva, Lipjan and Shtime, while 125 buildings in 21 municipalities have previously been renovated.

The Ministry of Economy and the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund are continuing their work to expand investments in energy efficiency, with the aim of reducing consumption, improving conditions in public buildings and using energy more efficiently.
