Kosovo Positioned as Reliable Destination for Sustainable Energy Investments
Prishtina, May 20, 2026 – The European Investors Council recently convened the 3rd Sustainable Investment Forum, focusing on the critical role of sustainable investments and European Union support in driving Kosovo’s economic development.
The forum assembled representatives of the European Union (EU), relevant institutions, the private sector, and international organizations. Discussions centered on leveraging the European Union Growth Plan and Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) funding on strengthening a sustainable economy and increasing investments in Kosovo.
Leonita Shabani Mullarama, Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy, served as a key panelist for the session titled “Sustainable Infrastructure Investments for a Future with Stable Energy and a Clean Environment.” The panel, moderated by energy transition expert Louis Boisgibault from the Cabinet of Minister Rizvanolli, the importance of strategic investments in energy, sustainable infrastructure and green transition as key pillars for the long-term economic development of the country.
Shabani Mullarama stated that, “Kosovo is at a key stage of energy and infrastructure transition, with a focus on building a modern, sustainable and harmonized system with the European Union’s decarbonization objectives.” She also emphasized that through legal reforms, investments in solar energy, wind energy and battery storage systems, Kosovo is strengthening energy security and creating a more transparent and attractive market for investors.
According to Secretary Shabani Mullarama, “the renewable energy sector represents one of the most promising investment opportunities, while transparency and citizen involvement in these processes remain a priority for their realization.”
In her concluding remarks, Secretary Shabani Mullarama invited international investors to recognize Kosovo as a reliable partner and a market with high potential for long-term and sustainable investments in energy.
The forum discussions focused on strategic priorities for the country’s economic development, strengthening the private sector and the importance of the European Union’s continued support through financial instruments and development programs in Kosovo.
