Prishtina, 12 August 2026 – The energy sector in Kosovo has been joined by 54 new professionals, who, after completing the one-year KEDS Academy program, have already been employed.

A total of 74 young people were certified at the ceremony organized for the 12th generation of the Academy: 62 of them were students from technical high schools, from the department of electrical engineering respectively, and 12 of them were students from the University of Prishtina, most from the field of electrical engineering.

The KEDS Academy program is a one-year professional training initiative that combines theoretical learning with field practice. During the program, participants are trained in various areas of the energy sector, including the electricity grid, energy distribution, occupational safety and modern energy system technologies.

The 12th generation KEDS Academy program lasted one year and was developed in cooperation with the Centre for Energy and Sustainability within the University of Prishtina. Through the Academy, since its establishment, over 860 pupils and students have been trained.

The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, congratulated the graduates, emphasizing that the connection between education and practical training with employment is essential for the development of the said sector.

“The fact that 54 out of 74 certified people have already been employed is a concrete result and a good example of how cooperation between educational institutions and the private sector should function: from education and practical training, towards employment”, said so Minister Rizvanolli.

She emphasized that Kosovo’s energy sector is undergoing a profound transformation. Through the Energy Strategy, development of competitive auctions for renewable energy, investments in solar and wind capacities, energy storage through batteries, modernization of existing capacities and increased efficiency, Kosovo is building a safer, cleaner and more competitive system.

Minister Rizvanolli thanked KEDS, the Centre for Energy and Sustainability and the University of Prishtina for their cooperation and for creating a concrete path from education and vocational training to the labour market.
