Five international and local companies/consortia apply for the tender for the rehabilitation and modernization of Unit A3
Prishtina, 17 July 20025 – The Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) has opened the official bids of the Economic Operators in the pre-qualification phase, through the electronic e-procurement platform, for the project: “Rehabilitation and Modernization of unit A3 at TPP Kosova A”.
The consortia/companies composed of international and local entities are: “SBB Energy S.A; Intering SH.P.K, EthosEnergy”, “LIMAK INSAAT SANAYI ve TICARET A.S”, “GOLDEN CONCORD GROUP LIMITED”, “KEPCO Plant Service Engineering Co.LTD, DYPNF Co., Ltd, BHI CO, Ltd” and “HIB Petrol SH.P.K; Florian Viqa; NTPC Limited”.
On this occasion, the Caretaker Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, stated that five bids have been received from prestigious companies coming from different countries.
“This proves that today we are concluding a serious competition with a sufficient number of applicants to proceed to the next phase. The application of these companies/consortia shows that they have chosen to place their trust in this process in KEK and in the Republic of Kosovo, in a better and safer future of the energy sector that we are building,” she said.
The Minister also spoke about the benefits that the energy sector will have following this investment.
“With this investment being planned and implemented, Unit A3 will continue to serve for at least another 20 years, with an investment of over 137 million euros from the own funds of KEK, it will bring multiple benefits: It will generate more: 215 megawatts gross, from only 130-140 at present, it will operate longer: from 5,400 operating hours per year to 7,700 operating hours per year, it will burn less coal: from 1.6 tons of coal currently to 1.15 tons, and it will pollute less: meeting the EU environmental standards”, she concluded.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Board of KEK, Valdrin Krasniqi, said that the project is important for the entire energy sector of Kosovo.
“This project is an important step for KEK, but also for the entire energy sector of Kosovo. This is not only a technical intervention, but a true transformation towards greater efficiency, sustainability, and environmental protection”, he said.
The Chief Executive Officer of KEK, Gramoz Hashani, said that this is a historic milestone for the electro-energy sector of Kosovo.
