70 MW of new wind power in Zatriq
Rahovec, 10 September 2026 – The Wind Park in Zatriq, Municipality of Rahovec, was inaugurated, with an installed capacity of 70 MW, one of the most important investments in renewable energy in Kosovo.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, Acting Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, Mayor of the Municipality of Rahovec, Smajl Latifi, Ambassador of Switzerland to Kosovo, Anne-Lise Cattin Hennin, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Turkey in Kosovo, Şeyda Çimeli Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Çalık Holding, Ahmet Çalık, General Manager of Çalık Renewables, Emre Erdoğan, as well as representatives of institutions and project partners.
Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that today in Zatriq we are marking an important step for the energy future of the Republic of Kosovo, a future in which energy is increasingly produced from clean sources.
“Kosovo has great potential for renewable energy. Therefore, as the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, we are taking concrete steps to harness this potential through smart investments and in the interest of citizens and future generations,” Prime Minister Kurti assessed.
Minister Rizvanolli emphasized that Rahovec is becoming the center of renewable energy in Kosovo, it is the first municipality in Kosovo to have wind energy capacities and will also have solar capacities.
“With 185 GWh hours of clean energy per year, the project has the potential to cover the annual consumption of around 45 thousand households. And beyond that, the fact that we are talking about wind energy, about capacities that mainly produce during cold weather, when we need more energy, means that the contribution of this 70 MW wind farm is important for our energy sector and especially for reducing imports during the cold winter months,” said Minister Rizvanolli.
The project was developed by the company EV Wind Park L.L.C., in partnership with Çalık Renewables and Eurokos Holding, in accordance with the standards of the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
The project was financed by the German bank Helaba, while it was guaranteed by the Swiss export credit agency SERV (Swiss Export Risk Insurance).
The inauguration of the Wind Park in Zatriq marks another important step in increasing Kosovo’s capacity to produce energy from renewable sources, contributing to the diversification of energy sources, increased energy security and the transition towards a more sustainable energy system.
