The two-day informational workshop on the open electricity market for businesses concluded
Prishtina, 11.06.2025 – The second day of the informational workshop on the open electricity market for businesses, organized by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo in cooperation with the Secretariat of the National Council for Economy and Investments within the framework of ongoing discussions on the liberalization of the energy market, has been concluded.
The Acting Chief Executive Officer of KEK, Gramoz Hashani, presented information regarding the Supplier of Last Resort (SLR) option, which the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) provides pursuant to the obligation imposed by the Energy Regulatory Office.
Hashani indicated that the role of the SLR is to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity for consumers who have not succeeded in entering into commercial contracts, for a transitional period until 30 July 2025. To benefit from this service, consumers must conclude contracts with KEK, and Hashani announced that, to date, 675 contracts have been concluded with commercial consumers.
Arben Kllokoqi, Head of the Market Regulation Section at the Energy Community Secretariat in Vienna, presented a series of scenarios built according to different consumer profiles, with the aim of helping businesses to compare more easily energy supply offers and make more secure and suitable decisions for their needs.
In addition, Kllokoqi shared the experiences and perspectives of the Energy Community regarding the further development of the energy market in the region. The discussion was followed by an open session during which various questions and ambiguities concerning supply offers and best contractual practices were addressed.
The two-day workshop was organized with the aim of developing the capacities of companies in managing energy supply in the open market. It sought to increase capacities and provided practical information for better orientation in the new conditions of the liberalized market.
