Energy efficiency measures inaugurated at PLSS “Migjeni” in Drenas
Drenas, 03.04.2024 – Deputy Minister of Economy, Getoar Mjeku participated in the inauguration of energy efficiency measures at the Primary Lower Secondary School “Migjeni” in Baica, Drenas.
Investments in this school have been made under the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund (KEEF) project financially supported by the European Union (EU) and the World Bank (WB).
Speaking about the difficulties faced by the students and teachers of this school, Deputy Minister Mjeku stated that the importance of investment in these measures has an impact not only on reducing energy bills but also on improving the conditions for students, which will also affect the quality of learning.
He added that energy efficiency is a priority for the Government of Kosovo, as reflected in the Energy Strategy 2023-2031 for generating new sources of renewable energy, and emphasized that after the successful completion of the E-auction, the first wind energy auction with a capacity of 150 MW will soon be launched.
With an investment of 187 thousand Euro in PLSS “Migjeni”, implemented by the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund with the support of the European Union and the World Bank, about 70% of energy will be saved.
The investment in PLSS “Migjeni” include:
- External thermal insulation;
- Replacement of inefficient windows with new PVC ones;
- Installation of entrance doors;
- Roof insulation;
- New central pellet boiler;
- Supply and installation of new LED lighting fixtures.
The following participants attended the inauguration of the energy efficiency measures: Deputy Minister of Economy, Getoar Mjeku, Executive Director of the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund, Driton Hetemi, representative of the EU Office in Kosovo, Alessandro Bianciardi, Lundrim Aliu from the World Bank, as well as the Mayor of Drenas, Ramiz Lladrovci.
