PTK privatization doesn’t threaten current jobs

Prishtina, 02.10.2012 – Government Privatization Committee, established by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, is strictly and transparently implementing the PTK Privatization process.

This process is based on a Decision by the Assembly and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, and is implemented in line with the applicable legislation.

To this date, GPC and its Chair, the Minister of Economic Development, Besim Beqaj, have responded to all meeting requests of representatives of unions, to clarify all issues related to the protection of PTK employees’ rights.

No PTK employee contract shall be terminated, and their jobs are guaranteed for three years.

The right to protest is a right guaranteed with the constitution and the country’s applicable legislation; however, threats to undertake radical measures such as the destruction of PTK assets goes beyond efforts to ensure union rights, and is an issue for the relevant national bodies.
