MEM supports improvements in energy efficiency

Prishtina, 19 May 2010 –  Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) along with GTZ (German Technical Cooperation Agency), has organized an informative seminar on the benefits of energy efficiency measures, as part of the National Efficient Lighting Campaign.
 
At this occasion, the Deputy-Minister of Energy and Mines, Dr. Tech. Blerim Rexha, expressed his gratitude to GTZ for the support given in this field and stated that the National Efficient Lighting Campaign is aimed at raising awareness on the benefits from energy efficiency measures.
 
“This step is one of the steps through which MEM supports energy efficiency, which is aimed to energy saving”, said Rexha. He also claimed that MEM is dedicated to raising sensitivity regarding energy saving measures, part of which is promotion of usage of fluorescent bulbs.
 
On the other side, Gabriele Becker, GTZ representative for Kosovo thanked MEM for the readiness to cooperate in the field of energy efficiency. At this event, she stated that the seminar is aimed to launching German electricity saving practices, through utilization of efficient bulbs.
 
Otherwise, GTZ presented the energy audit report of six buildings in Kosovo, which are currently replacing the bulbs used for lighting and moving from indicant to fluorescent bulbs. These buildings are: Prishtina – National Library, Dormitory No. 4, Technical Faculty, MEM Officers; Gjilan – “Musa Zajmi” School; and Gjakova – Municipal Assembly.
