Division of Seismology (MEM) recorded the earthquake in Albania

Prishtina, September 7, 2009 – On September 6, 2009, on 23:49h, seismologists of the Seismology Network of the Ministry of Energy and Mining of the Republic of Kosovo, recorded the earthquake in Albania.

The epicentre of the earthquake was 45 km north-east of Elbasan and 13 km south-west of Dibër. Earthquake magnitude was 5.4 Richter scale, and the intensity in the epicenter was VI-VII scale according to MCS-64.

The quake was also felt in the south-eastern part of the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. According to the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake could not have caused material damages in the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, due to the small of the hypocenter of 2 km.
