Minister Rizvanolli met with the Swiss-Kosovo Chamber of Commerce Delegation
Prishtina, 03.06.2024 – The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, held a fruitful meeting with a Delegation of the Swiss-Kosovo Chamber of Commerce (OZEK).
Describing the meeting as productive, it was noted that there is significant potential for collaboration, particularly in areas such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT), employment, finance, and more.
Minister Rizvanolli stated that the Swiss experience aligns well with Kosovo’s economic needs, and this can serve as the beginning of a sustainable partnership journey. She highlighted the excellent examples of the diaspora, particularly in Switzerland, who not only invest but also promote the export of Kosovo’s industries.
She added that a prime example is the “Group Orllati”, along with other Swiss, German, and Kosovo companies, which recently won the right to build 100 MW energy capacities.
The Minister also emphasized that Kosovo relies heavily on its diaspora and it is time for this to be mutual, especially for development opportunities of businesses which should see Kosovo as a place for investments, attracting investments from friendly countries like Switzerland as well as the broader diaspora.
She noted this is enabled by the recent legislative developments, business parks and supportive legislation that enable greater support for investors.
As the Ministry responsible for energy, ICT, publicly owned enterprises, and mining, significant investments are expected, particularly in renewable energy sources, specifically solar and wind energy. Future investments will also be developed in technologies such as geothermal energy, hydrogen, and the construction of battery capacities for energy.
Representatives of OZEK expressed their continuous efforts to attract potential investors to Kosovo by mediating between Swiss and Kosovo companies.
The meeting was attended by: David Garcia, Chair of the Swiss-Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and manager at Ernst & Young, Butrint Ajredini, member and lawyer in Geneva, Ahmed Elfeshawey, member and pharmacist, Sami Gashi, member and parliament member in the Geneva Canton, member of the MCG party (Geneva Citizens’ Movement), Granit Molliqaj, member and neurosurgeon at the Geneva Cantonal Hospital, Qendrim Nebiu, member and HR manager for Romandy Switzerland of the Allianz group, and Valon Qorolli, expert in design and computer sciences.
