Minister Rizvanolli met with senior political representatives of Canada: The partnership between Kosovo and Canada is excellent

Toronto, 06 March 2026 – The Minister of Economy of the Republic of Kosovo, Artane Rizvanolli, has assessed that the partnership between Kosovo and Canada is excellent, emphasizing that now is the time to build on this basis an even deeper economic cooperation, especially in the mining and energy sector.

During the past week, Minister Rizvanolli, accompanied by the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, participated in the largest and most important global conference on mineral exploration and the mining industry, PDAC 2026, held in Toronto, where she held a series of meetings with senior institutional representatives and international partners.

During this visit, Minister Rizvanolli met with René Legacy, Deputy Premier of the Province of New Brunswick and Minister of Finance and the Treasury Board, as well as Minister of Energy, with whom they exchanged experiences on energy policies and developments in the energy sector.

She also held meetings with Brian Jean, Minister of Energy and Minerals of Alberta, and Cory Hughes, Deputy Assistant Minister for Resource Development at the Ministry of Energy and Resources of Saskatchewan, with whom she discussed opportunities for economic cooperation with a focus on the mining and energy sectors, as well as concrete steps to advance this cooperation in joint projects. Minister Rizvanolli also held meetings with representatives of the Parliament of Canada, including Rob Oliphant, MP and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Claude Guay, MP and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Ahmed Hussen, MP and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development, and Kyle Seeback, MP and Shadow Minister for Labour. In these meetings, the deepening of bilateral cooperation, continued political support for Kosovo, and general developments in the country were discussed.

During the conference, Minister Rizvanolli also had the opportunity to exchange with other international partners, including David Michael, Minister for Mines and Petroleum in the Government of Western Australia, as well as Stéphane Séjourné, Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy at the European Commission, also responsible for Industry, SMEs and the Single Market. These meetings discussed developments in strategic sectors and approaches to strengthening international cooperation in these sectors.

Participation in PDAC 2026 served as an important opportunity to promote Kosovo’s potential in the mining sector and to expand international partnerships in areas of strategic importance for the country’s economic development.
