Earthquake in the Prizren-Shterpce area
Prishtina, 10.02.2026 – Based on data from the Seismological Network, the Geological Service of Kosovo, and the Euro-Mediterranean Seismic Centre, as well as numerical analysis of the seismic event, on 10 February 2026 at 22:09 local time, the territory of Kosovo (southeastern Kosovo) was struck by an earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale, with an intensity of VI on the Mercalli scale.
The hypocentral depth was 5 km.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located at the geographic coordinates 42.144; 20.985,
23 km east of Prizren.
The earthquake was clearly felt by citizens due to its relatively strong magnitude. Such events confirm that the Prizren area is a seismogenic and active zone, as also indicated by calculations and studies presented in the Seismic Hazard Map of Kosovo.
