Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Rizvanolli visit the Kosovo Energy Corporation

Pristina, 31.12.2025 – The acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the acting Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, visited the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) on the last day of 2025, where they were closely informed about the electricity production capacities and the progress of the works in this public enterprise, where they were informed that 5 KEK production units are in operation.

During the visit to KEK, Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Rizvanolli were received by the management of the enterprise and the Board of Directors.

On this occasion, the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, highlighted that during the visit it was announced that three units of the Kosovo A and two units of Kosovo B thermal power plants are now operational.

He thanked the Board, management and employees for the extraordinary work they are doing, which is in the service of citizens, businesses, industry and our production, but also of the general security of the Republic.

The acting Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, praised the investments made this year, emphasizing that KEK has made the largest investment in the last four decades in the energy sector. She added that during this year the modernization of the turbine in block B2, together with other accompanying investments, has increased the capacity of this unit by about 35 MW, has increased its lifespan by 20 years and has contributed to reducing pollution.

“Next year, the same investment is expected to be made in Unit B1, along with the installation of filters that will significantly reduce pollution,” said Minister Rizvanolli.

She added that during this year, KEK has taken a very important step by starting the contracting procedures for the deep rehabilitation of Unit A3, worth EUR 137 million, with the pre-qualification process successfully completed, and three experienced consortia have moved on to the next phase.

“We expect to have the contract signed for the deep rehabilitation of Unit A3 within six months,” said Minister Rizvanolli and announced that with the completion of these projects, Kosovo will have added about 150 MW of additional capacity in existing power plants and 100 MW of new generation capacity from renewable sources.

Meanwhile, the CEO of the Kosovo Energy Corporation, Gramos Hashani, thanked Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Rizvanolli for the visit and support of the projects and announced the projects that have been implemented, while underlining that by 2027, KEK will implement projects worth EUR 500 million.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the KEK Board, Valdrin Krasniqi, thanked all the employees of this enterprise for their continuous work and for the stability of electricity in our country, as well as the government for its support in investments.

Minister Rizvanolli also visited KEDS and KOSTT today, where she thanked them for their commitment and wished them a successful year.
