Minister Rizvanolli takes part in the commemoration of the International Girls in ICT Day

Prishtina, 24.04.2025 – The Caretaker Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, took part in the commemoration of the International Girls in ICT Day, which is marked with various activities in more than 160 countries under the motto “Girls in ICT for Inclusive Digital Transformation”.

At the event organised by The Foundation House and RIT Kosovo, Minister Rizvanolli underlined that this is the tenth consecutive year in which Kosovo joins the commemoration of this day, demonstrating persistence in advancing inclusion and equality.

Speaking about the reduction of unemployment among girls and women during the four-year governmental mandate, the Minister stressed that special focus has been placed on investing in the education and advancement of girls in STEM fields such as technology, energy, and the natural sciences.

“Therefore, we have granted more than 4,880 scholarships for girls and women in STEM fields to ensure that young women pursue their talents and ambitions rather than being confined to areas traditionally considered ‘for girls’. It is no coincidence that more than 50% of STEM students at the University of Pristina are girls.
We have incorporated gender criteria into every public call for ICT training. In the Ministry of Economy’s training programmes in fields such as robotics and artificial intelligence, where we have trained 5,000 young people in technology, more than 40% are girls, many of whom were employed immediately after training, thereby also contributing to greater workplace inclusion,” emphasised Minister Rizvanolli.
