Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Rizvanolli visit social housing buildings in Mitrovica where investments are being made in energy efficiency
Mitrovica, 29.04.2025 – The Caretaker Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Caretaker Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, visited two social housing buildings in Shipol and Desi of Mitrovica, where investments are under way to increase energy efficiency.
Work on these buildings includes insulating the roofs and external walls, replacing outdated doors and windows, installing efficient heating systems, installing intercoms, and implementing fire-protection measures.
These two social housing buildings, constructed in 2003 and 2005, accommodate 39 families or a total of 173 residents, and for many years have lacked proper insulation, energy-efficient windows, and adequate heating systems.
Thanks to an investment of 381,622 euros, these apartments are being transformed, and the works are expected to be completed by autumn.
In Shipol, the social housing building constructed in 2003 will improve living conditions for 18 families, including four women-headed households.
In Desi, the 2005 building will serve 21 families, among them four women-headed households.
This project is part of a larger investment of more than 6 million euros, which encompasses the renovation of 25 social housing buildings throughout Kosovo. Funding is covered 90 % by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the European Union, while the municipalities contribute 10 %. The project is being implemented by the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund.
In addition to social housing, nine public buildings in Mitrovica have also been renovated, including:
- 4 schools,
- 1 kindergarten,
- 2 outpatient clinics in Bajgora and Bare, and
- the Cultural Centre.
These renovations significantly improve living, educational, and health-service conditions for thousands of citizens.
