Energy efficiency investments in three social multi-apartment buildings in Prizren inaugurated
Prizren, May 14, 2026 – Investments in three social multi-apartment buildings were inaugurated today in the Municipality of Prizren, within the framework of the Implementation of Energy Efficiency Measures for Social Multi-Apartment Buildings project, a project of the Government of Kosovo, financed 90% by the European Union and 10% by the municipality, implemented by the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the acting Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, the Head of the European Union Cooperation Section in Kosovo, Hubert Perr, the Managing Director of KEEF, Njomza Hoxha, as well as representatives from the municipality of Prizren.
On this occasion, the institutional representatives highlighted the importance of investments in energy efficiency as a direct contribution to improving living conditions for citizens, reducing energy consumption and advancing Kosovo’s objectives for green transition and sustainable development.
Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that 51 families will benefit from the completion of the works in these facilities, who will have better living conditions.
“In total, these buildings have 4,855 square meters of living space, within which there are now families who live better, children who grow up in better conditions, parents who feel safe and residents who see that the public institution is not far from them, because for us it is important that our public investments are beneficial to the lives of citizens,” he said.
Minister Rizvanolli announced that these three buildings are part of a total of 28 social multi-apartment buildings in 13 municipalities of Kosovo that have benefited from this project, with a total investment value of EUR 6.6 million.
For his part, the Head of the European Union Cooperation Section in Kosovo, Hubert Perr, emphasized that this project represents a concrete example of cooperation between the European Union and Kosovo for the purpose of improving the lives of Kosovo citizens, especially families in need.
The works carried out in these buildings include the insulation of external walls, the replacement of windows and entrance doors, the thermal insulation of the roof with the renovation of tiles and the installation of thermal and waterproofing layers, the installation of a heating system with air conditioners, as well as other accompanying works, including the renovation of entrances, the installation of intercoms and fire protection measures.
These investments are expected to directly help the reduction of energy losses, the reduction of heating and electricity costs, as well as the improvement of the energy efficiency of the buildings.
The total value of the investment in these three buildings amounts to EUR 458,645. 51 families have benefited from this project, of which 42 families are headed by women.
This project is part of the ongoing commitments of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and international partners to support the social residential sector and to promote sustainable investments in public and social infrastructure.
