Prishtina, 01.03.2016 - Key players of the energy sector of Kosovo met in the High Level Forum “Security of Energy Supply in Kosovo”, organized by the Ministry of Economic Development and supported by USAID project REPOWER, discussing current developments in this sector, where they stressed the need for greater involvement of the business community and international partners in the development of this sector.

Prishtina, 22.02.2016 – The first-of-its-kind Women in Online Work (WoW) pilot kicked off today in Lipjan municipality of Kosovo, convening for the first introductory class 63 female trainees. The training phase in the latter municipality will kick off next week. By providing specialized training on coding and soft skills, this pilot aims at increasing employability of a selected pool of under-/unemployed young women in “green jobs” provided through rapidly-growing online IT outsourcing.

Prishtina, 12.02.2016 – Today, a workshop was held in the Ministry of Economic Development on employment possibilities in the digital economy. Present in this workshop was also Deputy Minister of MED, Besa Zogaj-Gashi, Deputy-Minister of MEST, Anila Statovci, alongside experts from the World Bank, ICT officials, and representatives of MED, STIKK, 3CIS, UBT, GIZ and business representatives.

Prishtina, 29.01.2016 – Ministry of Economic Development conducted today the first consultative meeting on the implementation of the Kosovo Strategy on Information Technology, which was adopted by the Government of Kosovo through Decision No. 14/67 of 30.12.2015.

Prishtina, 30.12.2015 – Finalization of the agreement with the US Company, Contour global, as the investor for the construction of “Kosova e Re” power plant, is the greatest success of the year in the energy sector, said the Minister of Economic Development, Blerand Stavileci. Stavileci made these comments in the concluding conference in 2015, where he presented the achievements of his Ministry during the year as well as the challenges faced. He noted that Energy and Information and Communication Technology are two strategic sectors where significant developments took place.

Prishtina, 18.12.2015 – The Government of Kosovo, represented by Minister of Economic Development, Blerand Stavileci, who is also the Chair of the Project Steering Committee (PSC) for the “Kosova e Re” Power Plant (KRPP), signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the US investor Contour Global.

Prishtina, 17.12.2015 – Representatives of institutions of Kosovo, Albania, German Embassy, KfW, KOSTT and OST considered that the 400 kV Kosovo-Albania interconnection line is one of the most important energy projects, which will improve the energy system, and will create a special connection between the two countries, the region and the European Union. These comments were made during the inauguration ceremony of the project “Secondary regulation frequency-power Kosovo-Albania” and the completion of works on the 400 kV interconnection line until the border with Albania, organized today in NT 400/220 kV Kosovo B, in Kastriot.

Prishtina, 2015 – Implementation of energy efficiency measures entails numerous benefits, which can be summarized in the following five categories: diminishment of energy invoices, represents a cost-effective investment, provides positive environmental effects and simulates economic development, said the Minister of Economic Development Blerand Stavileci today during a presentation of a prefeasibility study on the Energy Efficiency Fund.
