Workshop “Digital Transformation in the Energy Sector” held

Prishtina, 22 April 2026 – A two-day workshop was held, attended by representatives of key institutions in the energy sector, who were closely introduced to the new digital reporting platform, thereby strengthening inter-institutional cooperation and supporting the implementation of the Energy Strategy Implementation Program 2022–2025.

The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Economy (MoE), in cooperation with the LuxDev project team, marking an important step towards modernizing the way data is collected, managed and exchanged among institutions responsible for Kosovo’s energy transition.

Representatives of energy sector institutions met to test and evaluate the functionalities of the new digital platform, which enables the reporting of activities and indicators of the Energy Strategy.

During the workshop, participants were introduced to the platform, created to facilitate the process of collecting, processing and analyzing data related to monitoring the Energy Strategy 2022–2031 and the Implementation Program 2022–2025. The platform is also designed to be functional for the new Implementation Program 2026–2028, following its approval.

The platform aims to:

  • Collect all energy sector data in one place;
  • Enable tracking of the implementation of the Strategy through monitoring of indicators;
  • Simplify the process of reporting annual and multi-year activities;
  • Replace manual and fragmented procedures;
  • Support decision-making with accurate and real-time data.

Participants had the opportunity to use the platform in a practical manner, familiarize themselves with the reporting structure, and test data entry. Furthermore, during the work, certain difficulties were identified, for which concrete suggestions were provided, which have already been integrated into the improved version of the platform.

This workshop created a collaborative space where institutions shared experiences and challenges encountered in data collection, discussed their responsibilities within the reporting process, and identified ways to improve the quality and coherence of data.

This joint approach helped strengthen coordination among institutions and laid stronger foundations for a more unified reporting process at the national level. Through these discussions, the importance of a clear and harmonized flow of information was also emphasized, and the commitment to support the country’s energy transition was reaffirmed.

The two-day workshop contributed to strengthening institutional capacities and created the basis for more effective use of the digital platform. With new tools and greater clarity in roles and reporting processes, institutions are better prepared to ensure more accurate, transparent, and coordinated data.

This will enable the Ministry of Economy to develop more informed policies, based on concrete data analysis and by guiding the energy sector towards sustainable development.

As Kosovo continues its path towards a modern and sustainable energy sector, this workshop marks an important step in establishing the digital foundations that will support this transformation.

This activity was carried out with the support of the project “Energy Transition and Climate Mitigation in Kosovo”, funded by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and implemented by the Ministry of Economy and LuxDev – the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency.
