Gjakovë, 10.02.2023 – The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, visited the District Heating Gjakova, where she was welcomed by the Chief Executive Officer of the District Heating, Arben Meka, representatives of the Management Board of the enterprise, as well as the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality, Flamur Fetahaj, and other representatives of the Municipality.

During the meeting, the Minister emphasized the Ministry of Economy’s readiness to support the District Heating and facilitate processes with relevant institutions, even though it falls outside the Ministry’s scope of competencies or obligations.

Over the last two seasons, the Ministry of Economy has subsidized 1.1 million euros to the District Heating Gjakova. During 2022, this subsidy was three times the amount originally planned for biomass purchases.

The Minister asked the management and board of the enterprise to ensure the start of producing biomass for the upcoming heating season, given that the district heating has the necessary equipment, and to activate the co-generation component.

The Minister noted that both the Ministry of Economy and the entire Government of the Republic of Kosovo are committed to supporting District Heating in this direction.
