Ministry of Economy formalizes its cooperation with Columbia University

Prishtina, 13.03.2023 – The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, signed today a Memorandum of Cooperation with Columbia University, New York, represented by Professor Jenik Radon, who specializes in strategic and risk management, sovereignty, and human rights, especially in environmental and transparency issues.

Under the Memorandum signed today, Columbia University will support the Ministry of Economy in successfully implementing the Energy Strategy 2022-2031 through academic research studies, including interviews and field meetings. The two focus points of their research and report will be the development of competitive schemes for the integration of renewable resources in Kosovo, as well as supporting schemes to improving energy efficiency.

During the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation, Minister Rizvanolli expressed her belief in evidence-based policy-making and stressed the importance of having as much research as possible on the issues they address. She also emphasized that they will make the most of Columbia University’s research.

Meanwhile, Professor Radon added that they look forward to a continuing cooperation with the Government of Kosovo, as the work they are doing is more important than ever in contributing together to the development of the state of Kosovo.

Currently, the group of students is holding meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Economy and all relevant stakeholders to collect the necessary information to develop their research study.
