Minister Rizvanolli discusses with representatives of Chambers of Commerce: Call for subsidy of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises will be launched soon

Pristina, 16.11.2023 – Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, met with representatives of chambers of commerce and businesses in Kosovo, engaging in discussions on new measures for subsidizing energy-efficient equipment for micro, small, and medium enterprises.

Minister Rizvanolli and representatives of chambers of commerce and businesses discussed the needs of enterprises for support in energy efficiency, heating systems, energy expenses, and other ways to achieve increased efficiency and reduced electricity consumption.

The measures, currently being designed within the European Union support package to address the European energy crisis, worth of 75 million euros, represent the first such subsidies for purchase of efficient equipment for micro, small, and medium enterprises.

As an initial step in supporting businesses, the Ministry of Economy will commence subsidizing energy-efficient heating equipment for small and medium-sized enterprises, which constitute a significant portion of electricity consumption, especially during the winter season when demand for heating rises.

Business representatives expressed gratitude to Minister Rizvanolli for the invitation to engage in dialogue and shared their suggestions on measures they consider necessary for enhancing efficiency in businesses.

They considered the measure of subsidizing energy-efficient heating equipment as effective, emphasizing that around 40% of energy from the targeted businesses is spent on heating and that the use of inefficient equipment increases their energy bill.
