Prishtina, 10.10.2023 – Upon the proposal of the Ministry of Economy at the 164^th electronic meeting of the Government of Kosovo, the Draft Law on the Promotion of the Use of Renewable Energy Sources was adopted.

The Law on RES aims to increase the use of renewable energy sources and co-generation in the electricity, heating and cooling, and transport sectors, aiming at meeting energy demands, increasing supply security, improving environmental protection, and offering social and health benefits as well as promoting equal employment opportunities in the energy sector.

The scope of this law includes drafting of energy policies and the development of a regulatory framework for promoting the use of Renewable Energy Sources in the Republic of Kosovo, including the promotion of competitive, efficient, and transparent support schemes.

The aforementioned law defines the principles and objectives of policies for renewable energy sources, specifying the tasks and duties of the interested parties concerning the support of Renewable Energy.
