World Bank reiterates its support for energy projects

Prishtina, 10.09.2012 – Minster of Economic Development, Besim Beqaj, met today with the Regional Director of the World Bank, Jane Armitage and the Chief of the World Bank for Kosovo Jan-Peter Olters, to discuss on the recent developments in energy. The support of this highly important international institution has been confirmed in the meeting.

Beqaj discussed with the WB representatives on the KEDS privatization process, private investments in energy, decommissioning of TPP Kosovo A, and particularly on the TPP “Kosova e Re” Project, after changes in its structure.

From their part, WB officials highlighted the support for energy projects, considering this as a key sector for economic development of the country.

They also discussed on the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Conference, which will be held on 13 November 2012, and preparations for Minister Beqaj’s visit in USA, and his planned visits with WB representatives in Washington.
