Prishtina, 07 May 2013 – The inauguration of works in installing the water-supply network for 11 villages and opening of new wells for this network was held today in village Sazli of Ferizaj Municipality. The inauguration was attended by the Deputy-Minister of Economic Development, Ramadan Hasani, the Mayor of Ferizaj Municipality, Agim Aliu, Member of Parliament from this municipality, Elmi Reçica, and representatives of the implementing company.

Deputy-Minister of Economic Development, Ramadan Hasani, welcomed this wonderful initiative for the 11 villages, and said that the Government remains maximally engaged to gradually eliminating problems like water supply and sewer system connection, in order for the citizens to enjoy elementary services and greater welfare.

“I would like to thank the Swiss government, which is supporting Ferizaj and other neighboring municipalities in resolving water supply problems,” said Hasani while promising MED’s continuous support for the implementation of similar projects.

For his part, Mayor of Ferizaj Municipality, Agim Aliu, assessed that the inauguration of works represents a special event for the residents of 11 villages of this region (Sazli, Pojatë, Prelez i Jerlive, Prelez i Muhaxherëve, Surqinë, Bablak, Rahovicë, Mirosalë, Papaz and Softaj).

He said that this project is co-funded by Ferizaj Municipality, Government of the Republic of Kosovo and Government of Switzerland, and its purpose is to install the water-supply network and open new wells for the water-supply system, with an overall value of 1.5 million euro.

“These villages will be connected to the water-supply system and new wells and practically this region will not only have sufficient water but also a qualitative supply. Our municipality is glad to have found support in donors like the Government of Kosovo and Government of Switzerland, as a permanent donor,” said Aliu.

He informed that the municipality is finalizing a rather significant project for Ferizaj city with the Swiss Government – the construction of ‘Rexhep Bislimi’ street, valued at 7 million euro, which is the best proof that Ferizaj Municipality continues to make high and significant investments, amounting to millions of euros.

On the other hand, the member of Kosovo Assembly, originally from this municipality, Elmi Reçica, said that the efficient work of local authorities, Kosovo Government and MED, and all other stakeholders engaged in these endeavors, contributed to these investments that are visible every day.

According to him, the works at this site represent one of the most significant investments made by the Swiss Government, and encouraged all stakeholders to continue with such investments in the future.
