USAID supports energy projects in Kosovo

Prishtina, 29 April 2015 – implementation of clean energy projects in Kosovo is one of MED’s objectives, which aims to provide a suitable environment, which would attract private investments in this sector, said Deputy Minister of Economic Development Besa Zogaj Gashi, during a meeting with USAID representatives.

The meeting was also used to discuss on energy sphere projects, with special emphasis on overcoming obstacles and encouraing the implementation of renewable energy projects in the country.

Deputy Minister Zogaj Gashi thanked USAID representatives for the technical assistance provided, while emphasizing the need to establish a “One Stop Shop Center” under the auspices of the Repower Kosovo project, which would facilitate reduction of procedures, time and costs for RES investment application, thus providing a favorable climate and enhancing competition.

The meeting was attended by Edmond Shyti, representatives of USAID’s Repower Kosovo  project – Faruk Serdanovic, Project Leader, Kena Vasques, Senior Project Manager, Luis Gunzman, Foreign Service Official and Ardian Berisha, RES specialist.
