Prishtina, 16.05.2022 – The first meeting of the TAIEX Mission for the Strategy on Land Protection and Landslide Risk Reduction, chaired by Luan Morina, the Deputy Executive Director at the GSK, was held within the Geological Service of Kosovo.

Within the framework of the TAIEX Mission, the Italian expert, Mr. Francesco Fusto from the Regional Environmental Protection Agency of Calabria – Italy, introduced the best policies of the European Union, respectively of Italy, with regard to the Strategy on Land Protection and Landslide Risk Reduction.

In addition to the Geological Service of Kosovo as a host institution, beneficiaries of this TAIEX mission are also other institutions such as: the Emergency Management Agency, the Hydrometeorological Institute of Kosovo, the Faculty of Geosciences, etc., which have within their responsibilities the competence to deal with emergencies caused by nature as well as by the human factor.

The TAIEX mission will continue its work for another four days, where the responsibilities of the Independent Commission for Mines and Minerals, the Environmental Protection Agency, the municipalities of Prizren, Istog, and Kaçanik will be elaborated, practices will be exchanged, and the best practices and inter-institutional cooperation opportunities in the future will be addressed.
