The expression of will for long-term cooperation is signed between the Republic of Kosovo and the Kingdom of Denmark

 

Prishtina, 20 December, 2021 – Representatives of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, the Minister of Economy Artane Rizvanolli and the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu have signed two letters of intent, with the Ministers of the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark, namely the Minister of Justice, Nick Hakkerup and the Minister of Development Cooperation. This act paves the way for the bilateral agreement through which the Republic of Kosovo and the Kingdom of Denmark enter into a long-term cooperation partnership in the field of prison services and investments in renewable energy in Kosovo.

 

To this end, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo has offered its readiness to make available to the Kingdom of Denmark prison capacities in Kosovo for 300 prisoners from Denmark, for which, the Ministry of Justice of the Kingdom of Denmark has agreed to pay an annual fee of € 15,000,000 per year for an initial period of five years, with the possibility of extension for another five-year period.

 

The Republic of Kosovo benefits 210 million euros from this agreement, of which a significant part will be dedicated to capital investments, i.e. renewable energy.

 

Minister Rizvanolli said that to have the support of the Kingdom of Denmark as one of the leading countries for research, development and increase of participation of Renewable Energy Sources and to have deeper cooperation with them, especially in the field of energy, will be of particular importance to us as a state as well as easier for our energy transition.

 

This act is an indicator that emphasizes the readiness to restore cooperation as strategic partners between the Republic of Kosovo and the Kingdom of Denmark, important for the future of both countries and our peoples.
