The common energy market in the focus of the meeting between Lluka and Minxhozi

Prishtina, 31.10.2017 – Minister of Economic Development Valdrin Lluka met today with the Albanian Ambassador in Prishtina, Qemal Minxhozi, and discussed on the cooperation of both countries in sectors under MED’s mandate, with special emphasis on energy, respectively the establishment of a common energy market, and the work conducted in the preparation of the necessary documents, expected to be finalized during the common meeting of the Governments of Kosovo and Albania.

It was underlined by both counterparts that the establishment of the common energy market is of vital interest for both countries, especially due to the immense complementarity of both systems.

In order to functionalize the market, it is necessary to activate the Kosovo-Albania interconnection line, which is blocked by Serbia. On this issue, Minister Lluka demanded greater engagement and lobbying from Albania, in order to ensure that this problem is overcome as soon as possible.

On this occasion, Minister Lluka thanked Ambassador Minxhozi for the permanent cooperation with Albania, especially in the sphere of energy.

For his part, Ambassador Minxhozi reconfirmed Tirana’s support to economic development, energy projects and mining sphere projects, being that both countries have vast generation capacities in the energy and mining sectors.

Minister Lluka and Ambassador Minxhozi agreed to work along with the Albanian Government towards pushing forward the common project agenda.
