Stavileci presents the economic development vision to diaspora businesses

Prishtina, 25 April 2015 – Minister of Economic Development, Blerand Stavileci, is participating in the Diaspora Businesses Union in Germany, held in Cologne and also attended by the Kosovo Minister of Diaspora, Valon Murati, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Entrepreneurship of Albania, Brulinda Paskali, Mayor of Cologne, Ralph Heinen and representatives of Kosovo and diaspora businesses.

Minister Stavileci ascertained the significance of this conference, in which representatives of institutions and diaspora businesses can exchange ideas and concrete proposals on how to develop businesses and invest in Kosovo.

Head of MED, while presenting the Government vision on economic development and investments, emphasized that cooperation with the private sector remains a priority of the executive, while making note of structural reforms which are being undertaken towards private sector empowerment.

According to him, some such initiatives include the Law on strategic investments and Innovations Fund, which aim to improve the investment climate in Kosovo, noting that the country’s diaspora comprises an important development potential.

The event was used to present three concrete projects, the largest of which envisages the employment of ten thousand Kosovars in Kosovo-German companies.

Minister Murati, on the other hand, said that the networking of Albanian diaspora businesses represents one of the most significant projects implemented by the Ministry, and the future network will be one of the Government’s most important partners.

Noteworthy, conference participants have used the opportunity to discuss investment opportunities in Kosovo and on means for improving the investment climate.
