Stable energy supply and a clear environment in the focus of MED’s efforts

Prishtina, 07 April 2015 – Minister of Economic Development Blerand Stavileci, accompanied by Deputy Minister Besa Zogaj – Gashi, visited Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK), where they were received by the Board of Directors and senior management of this corporation and informed on the recent developments, respectively on steps taken towards the enhancement of security of energy supply for its customers.

Minister Stavileci emphasized that stable electricity supply is a priority that requires special attention. “We, in MED, have set the quality of citizens’ lives as our utmost priority, and security of electricity supply represents an important segment of ensuring such quality of living, hence, it requires special attention,” he said.

Stavileci also expressed his support to projects and engagements which in addition to purporting energy supply also pay special emphasis to environmental protection, as elements which contribute to better quality lives for Kosovo citizens.

On the other hand, Arben Gjukaj, Managing Director in KEK, presented KEK’s past achievements and history, underlining that electricity supply is one of the main challenges of this corporation, noting that it will soon be overcome.

He also emphasized the considerable investments KEK has made in protecting the environment, including forestation of a 25 ha surface and installation of filters in units A3, A4 and A5 of TPP Kosova A.

Moreover, Deputy-Minister of Economic Development Besa Zogaj-Gashi held a meeting with KOSTT’s senior management, and was informed on the undertakings of this company.
