Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Rizvanolli welcomed in a meeting the Board of Trepça

Prishtina, 03.12.2022 – The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, and the Deputy Minister of Economy, Getoar Mjeku, welcomed in a meeting the Board of Trepça Sh.A., chaired by Bahri Hyseni and acting Chief Executive Officer of Trepça Sh.A, Enis Abdurrahmani, to discuss the work hitherto and next steps.

With an average salary of 805 euros for miners, Trepça is among the key employers in areas it operates. Recently, in addition to starting the payment of workers’ pension contributions for the first time after many years, within the framework of internship scheme, Trepça hired 210 employees and very soon plans to open new positions to renew its workforce.

In 2022, Trepça managed to reduce expenses, increase revenues, and increase capital investments from its own budget. Salary expenses and operating expenses decreased by 9 percent and 18 percent, respectively, while revenues from the sale of lead and zinc concentrate increased by 23 percent, and capital investments from own budget for 2022 increased by 20 percent.

Thanks to a cautious plan, Trepça enterprise has saved over 1800 MWh energy this year compared to the previous period, although it has faced increased prices in the international energy market.

For a sustainable recovery, with the support of the Government, Trepça is planning the next steps such as the sale of residues worth tens of million euros and capital investments in modern and efficient technology, which shall enable the best use of energy and ore and protect the environment at the same time.
