Mr Lluka: The University of Mitrovica will soon have its geological laboratory

Prishtina, 03.09.2019 – Minister of Economic Development, Valdrin Lluka, paid a visit to the premises of the Kosovo Geological Service to get acquainted with the work being done by this agency.

At the premises of this department which is under the management of the MED, Minister Lluka was hosted by the Chief Executive Officer of the Kosovo Geological Service (KGS), Fidaim Sahiti, and the staff of this agency.

Head of the MED was informed of the investments made by KGS, where two very important equipment for this sector have been installed, having a total cost of over 700 thousand Euros:
1. Nanotechnology digital microscope with a capacity of magnifying objects up to 1/100 of a millimetre and 2. Rentgen for identifying all minerals.

The Kosovo Geological Service is also responsible for monitoring seismic activity 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, with 6 sites installed in various locations in Kosovo.

Minister Lluka also announced that next week, he will inaugurate the new laboratory to be installed in the premises of the University of Mitrovica, where students will have the opportunity to put their geology knowledge into practice.
