Ministri Lluka receives the Japanese Non-Resident Ambassador in Prishtina, Mr. Kiyoshi Koinuma

Prishtina, 24.09.2018 – Minister of Economic Development Valdrin Lluka met today with the Japanese Ambassador in Vienna, and non-resident Ambassador in Prishtina, Kiyoshu Koinuma, and the First Secretary of this Embassy, Mitsunori Ogasawara, to discuss on the overall economic developments in the country, with special emphasis on sectors covered by the Ministry.

Minister Lluka informed the Japanese Ambassador on the commitment of the ministry he heads towards improving the climate for foreign investments, and reforming the legal and institutional infrastructure, which was highly appraised by the international financial institutions.

The head of MED spoke on the projects under development in the spheres of energy, mining, information technology, as sectors with direct impact on economic development and creation of new jobs.

Minister Lluka and diplomat Koinuma discussed on the Japan-Kosovo Business Forum to be organized with support from the Japanese Government in December of this year. On the occasion, it was made clear that a delegation of Japanese business representatives will visit Kosovo in February of next year, marking the 10th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kosovo and Japan.

Other topics of discussion also included the funding of a number of projects through the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), with special focus on the water and waste sectors, which were subject to their support in the past as well. Representatives of both countries expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation to date, and their readiness to continue and advance such cooperation further in the future.
