Minister Rizvanolli visits drinking water treatment plant in Velekincë, Gjilan

Prishtina, 15.03.2024 – Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, made a visit to the drinking water treatment plant in the village of Velekincë, Municipality of Gjilan. During this visit, she met with the Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Water Company (RWC) “Hidromorava”, Mr. Ymer Salihu, the Board of this enterprise, as well as the Plant Manager, Mr. Nexhmedin Leka.

Rizvanolli and representatives of “Hidromorava” discussed the projects that have been implemented and those currently in progress.

During the visit, Minister Rizvanolli observed firsthand the work on rehabilitating the drinking water factory in Velekincë of Gjilan, an investment of around 200,000 euros from the Ministry of Economy. This project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, and it aims to rehabilitate the Water Treatment Factory in Velekincë and improve the drinking water supply to parts of the city of Gjilan, the Regional Hospital of Gjilan, as well as the villages of Velekincë and Pasjan.

She congratulated the plant manager and the staff of RWC “Hidromorava” for the good work done so far and stated that the construction of new capacities will continue in the future because the supply of drinking water is crucial for the well-being of citizens.

During the past year, this enterprise has increased its revenue collection, which has also led to increased income. Additionally, they have continued maintenance work on the sewage network and made other investments in infrastructure.

From investments made in RWC “Hidromorava”, except for the citizens of the Municipality of Gjilan, also the villages of the Municipality of Kamenica, such as Karaçevë e Epërme, Shipashnicë e Poshtme, Muçivërcë, Roganë, Honodoc, Novosellë, and Dajkoc, will benefit.
