Minister Rizvanolli participates in the Informal Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Energy Community

Prishtina, 02.07.2021 – The
Minister of Economy of the Republic of Kosovo, Artane Rizvanolli, today
participated in the Informal Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Energy
Community, in which the Director of the Secretariat of the Energy Community, Mr
Janez Kopač, and the Deputy Director, Mr Dirk Buschle, also participated.
Minister Rizvanolli discussed with the representatives of the Energy Community
and the Ministers responsible for this sector in the respective countries.

This meeting held online discussed the amendment of
the Energy Community Treaty, the Energy and Climate Framework for 2030, as well
as paving the way for the target of decarbonisation by 2050.

During her speech, Minister Rizvanolli stressed that
Kosovo appreciates the process of reforming the Treaty and that Kosovo is part
of it since 2005, when UNMIK signed the agreement within the institutions of
Kosovo, and, in 2008, institutions of the Independent Republic of Kosovo have
begun to participate in all activities of the Treaty, including contributions
to the budget of the Secretariat in Vienna.

For these reasons, the Minister has officially
requested that the name of the Republic of Kosovo be changed in the Treaty, in
order to avoid any legal uncertainty over rights and responsibilities.

During the technical discussions, the Minister stated
that we stand behind Kosovo’s obligations regarding the current process and
commitments that Kosovo has made and that we are now in the process of
developing the National Energy and Climate Strategy for the 2030 targets.
