Minister Rizvanolli participated at the opening of the 12th Edition of the KosICT Technology Festival

Prishtina, 13.10.2023 – The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, participated today in the opening of the KosICT Technology Conference, organized by the Kosovo Association of Information and Communication Technology (STIKK), focused on the theme: “Discover New Limits”.

Minister Rizvanolli expressed her enthusiasm of facing an innovative and creative force and, as she put it, her desire as Minister of Economy is a digital economy force.

In her remarks, Minister Rizvanolli stated that in this digital era in which we live, economic development is closely linked to technological advancement. As a Government, we are committed to investing in, supporting, and strengthening the role of the ICT sector in Kosovo.

As such, she stated how the Ministry has worked on developing the workforce through training in Java programming, Cybersecurity, Web Development, Python, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning. Furthermore, in infrastructure development, we have achieved 100% broadband internet coverage in Kosovo, launched the Kosovo Research and Education Network, including our digital excellence center, 3D printing labs, and data center, and we have also built a National Frequency Monitoring System across the country.

Furthermore, Minister Rizvanolli clearly emphasized that the main focus is on cultivating an environment where every existing and aspiring member of the ICT sector is supported and empowered.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, emphasized that digitalization remains a top priority for the Republic of Kosovo’s Government, considering the KosICT Technology Conference a major event.

“By the end of 2025, investments in e-government, e-health, digitalization in education, and cybersecurity in Kosovo will exceed 80 million euros. Based on the strategic documents we have completed, by 2027, this figure is expected to reach 130 million euros”, added Prime Minister Kurti.

The Ministry of Economy is one of the supporters of the ICT sector, financing the KosICT 2023 Technology Conference with an amount of 5000 euros.

For all interested parties, from 13 to 14 October 2023, the KosICT festival will hold activities with discussions, ideas, and networking opportunities, focusing on three themes: Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Digital Transformation.
