Minister Pula and associates held a reception for a Slovenian delegation

Prishtina, 21 December 2009 – The Minister of Energy and Mines, Ms. Justina Shiroka-Pula, accompanied by the Deputy-Minister, Mr. Blerim Rexha, the political advisor Faik Nahi and the LPTAP Project Manager Lorik Haxhiu, received a delegation from Slovenia, headed by the Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of Slovenia, Ms. Darja Radic.

Part of the Slovenian delegation were also representatives of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce as well as representatives of various companies, such as: Vekoslav Korosec, of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce, Matjaz Janezic, Holding Elektrana Slovenia, Uros Mikos – Komapian IBE, Bostjan Srtmqnik, Korona Power Engineering and Kresimir Bakic, ELES.

Minister Pula presented the energy and mining related policies of the Government of Kosovo to the Slovenian delegation, as well the related capital projects under development, including the New Kosova Thermal Power Plant, Zhur Hydro Power Plant as well as renewable energy projects.

At this occasion, Minister Pula proposed to the Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of Slovenia the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries in the field of energy and mines, an issue that was welcome from the Slovenian party.

“Recognizing Slovenian experience, we stand ready to cooperate in the relevant fields, by establishing all legal conditions for potential Slovenian investors, and the memorandum may be viewed as a mean to open the path for such cooperation”, said Minister Pula.

Similarly, the Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of Slovenia, Darja Radic expressed readiness fur such cooperation stating that Slovenia has good experience in the energy sector, especially in energy policies, and is keen on transferring this experience to Kosovo.

Further, the two delegations exchanged information pertaining to the current energy projects developed in Kosovo, with special emphasis in TPP “New Kosova” and the hydro power-plants, in which the Slovenian party expressed its interest.
