Minister Lluka took part in the International Summit of Mining Ministers, inviting Canadian companies to invest in Kosovo

Prishtina, 06.03.2018 – At the invitation of the Minister of Natural Resources of Canada, Mr. Jim Carr, the Minister of Economic Development, Valdrin Lluka, attended the International Summit of Mining Ministers in Toronto, Canada, which is organized under the framework of PDAC – World Economic Forum, aimed at discussing and promoting joint activities in the mining sector.

At the Summit, attended by over 25 mining ministers from all over the world, Minister Lluka met with many counterparts, and discussed the development of the mining sector, new trends, and deepened cooperation and exchange of experiences in common interest.

In his speech at this Summit, Minister Lluka spoke of the importance of increasing the credibility of investors, as this is directly related to the image of the state and consequently increases the likelihood of attracting foreign investors to the country.

Minister Lluka, before a significant number of Canadian companies, presented the mining potentials of the Republic of Kosovo and invited them to invest in Kosovo.

The International Summit of Mining Ministers is the world’s largest mining summit that annually gathers a large number of ministers and companies in order to deepen cooperation and promotion in the mining sector, and attract investment.

The following day, Minister Lluka and Minister Carr will sign an Agreement on Investment Promotion and Protection between the Republic of Kosovo and Canada, which will pave the way for economic cooperation between the two countries.
