Minister Ismajli attending the “Mines and Money” conference in London

Prishtina, 03 December 2013 – The Minister of Economic Development, Fadil Ismajli, is visiting Great Britain, to attend the annual conference “Mines and Money”, and will use the visit to conduct a number of meetings with British government officials and representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

During the visit, Minister Ismajli met with senior representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), including members of its Board and energy sector management, with which he discussed on projects that could be funded by EBRD in the sector of efficiency, transmission and renewable energy.

Also, special emphasis during the meetings was vested in the project of thermal power plant Kosova e Re, by discussing the Bank’s energy strategy and on possibilities to provide support for project implementation and funding for its development.

The new project structure, and investors’ interest to take part in this project were elaborated in detail. On this occasion, it was said that in order for the project to be funded by EBRD, it is important to apply the highest international standards regarding environmental protection, as well as European Directives.

To this end, Minister Ismajli ensured the counterparts that the project is in full conformity with European standards, and in order to continue to ensure such conformity, it is important for EBRD to continue to support the development of the bidding package.
