Mines – a sphere of interest for foreign investments

Prishtina, 09.11.2017 – Minister of Economic Development Valdrin Lluka met today with the Canadian Ambassador for Kosovo, resident in Croatia, Daniel Maksymiuk, with whom he discussed on economic developments in the country, including Government priorities from the economic perspective.

The meeting’s main focus was on Kosovo’s mining potential, since Canada is renowned as a global leader of this industry. On the topic, Ambassador Maksymiuk informed Minister Lluka on a number of Canadian companies interested in this sphere that are expected to visit Kosovo soon.

Furthermore, the Ambassador invited Minister Lluka to the world’s largest conference on mines and minerals organized in March in Toronto, in order to represent the potentials Kosovo offers in this sector.

Minister Lluka also presented his plans for increasing transparency in all mineral projects, which will stimulate serious investors from countries like Canada and ensure sustainable economic devleopment.

Ambassador Maksymiuk congratulated Minister Lluka on the conduct of transparent practices in the sphere of economy, adding that this will impact on further cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Maksymiuk said that the mining sector is a sphere in which foreign investors show a great interest, adding that such investments would affect sustainable economic development in Kosovo.
